BLING ON A BUDGET

The following “Tip of the Day” is provided to assist you with horse and farm management.  It is an idea developed by and/or used by Leslie Raulin.  This tip is available to you at your own risk.  Leslie Raulin does not make any claims or warranties nor does she have any financial interest in any products that may be mentioned.

Bling is the current dressage fashion, including bling on helmets and boots. Unfortunately, bling is expensive! A blingy helmet or blingy boots can cost more than $1,000 each and a bling brow band can cost over $100. But there are ways to add bling to your dressage attire without breaking the bank!

BLING HELEMTS:

A company called Pinbusdesigner sells helmet covers with bling (click here). The website shows 72 different designs for about $35 each, some with free shipping. They are also sold on Etsy. The helmet covers do not have a section for the helmet brim; however, I have fond they fit fine on my riding helmets. The photos below show some of their very creative 72 designs.

BLING BOOTS:

A company called Boot Crowns sells bling boot toppers that fit on the top of boots (click here). They sell for $75 (sale price) to $129.99 (regular price). I found a pair on ebay; they look nice and do not fall off. The photos below show some of their designs.

This photo shows how the boot crowns are made. They have a clip that fits over the boot on the outside of the leg. They also have strong Velcro located on the inside of the leg.

BLING BROW BANDS:

You can also get a bling brow band through Brow Bands for Charities (click here). Buy a brow band and donate to a charity. Cost for a 1″ biothane brow band is a minimum of $45 ($15 to cover materials, $30 or more for the charity; stock colors are black and brown, other colors are available with custom orders and a bit more money). Cost for a black 1″ leather brow band is a minimum of $65 ($35 to cover materials and $30 or more for the charity – limited available). Buy from stock or order a custom design where you choose size, design, and colors. The photo below shows some of the designs and colors. Also available are custom-made belts with bling that matches brow bands.
